God’s Covenant with Abraham
Discussion Questions:
- What did God tell Abraham to count as a reminder of His promise?
Answer: God told Abraham to look up at the night sky and count all the stars. There are too many stars to count. God promised to make Abraham’s family into as many people as they were stars. God always keeps His promises because He is faithful.
- Why was Abraham counted as righteous?
Answer: God counted Abraham’s faith as righteousness. Because of Abraham’s faith in God and His promises, he was made right before God. Even though we haven’t seen Jesus, we believe that He died for our sin, rose again, and will come again. Only faith in Jesus makes us right before God and takes away our sin.
- What is a covenant?
Answer: A covenant is a special promise, and God’s covenant with Abraham was shown by the sacrifice of animals. God promised that no matter what, He would keep His promises.
