The Disciples Replaced Judas
Acts 1
Discussion Questions:
1. Why did the disciples decide to replace Judas?
Peter reminded the apostles that scripture was fulfilled when Judas, one of the disciples, betrayed Jesus. Judas died, and the disciples knew they needed to choose another man, who had been with them during Jesus’ time on earth, to join them in their mission.
2. How did the disciples go about choosing someone?
The disciples devoted themselves to prayer over this decision. The disciples realized the importance of their mission and knew they needed God to show them who would be the right man to join them.
3. What needed to be true about the man they chose?
The man who replaced Judas would have to be someone who had been an eyewitness of Jesus’ resurrection and heard His teachings. It was important that the chosen disciple be able to tell others what He had seen and heard from Jesus.
